From Dezeen an article well worth a browse of the new Liberty of London boutique by the Paris based architects, Pierre Buecler and Jean-Christophe Poggioli. While the middle ground is suffering, Marks & Spencer and John Lewis for example, there still seems a lot of money left to make in the luxury end of the market as well as other opportunities for growth as shown by asos.

Ted Baker opens it new store in London’s Cheapside. Here’s the lowdown with more pictures from GQ. Interesting to note the additions of style and grooming for men.
If you’re ever in the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet in Ashford, Kent, the Ted Baker unit has a very nice and cheap cost effective use of materials in its fit out ,including using deep pile carpet which runs up and over it’s cash desk and up the back wall.
Also in the male grooming/style vein it’s worth looking at the Liberty menswear floor which includes Murdock a traditional barbers shop.
A few days ago we had a spare hour or two to look around Liberty. The best thing was really the visual merchandising throughout the store. There wasn’t anything particularly groundbreaking just good old fashioned attention to detail and great product displays of great products. Here’s a few pictures which don’t really do the store justice. Well worth a visit on a autumn day with not many people about.
Also of note is the menswear in the basement (unfortunately no pictures) with some very well sourced pieces of display kit, the Murdock barber shop and the oyster bar which looks like it’s been discovered from behind a bricked up wall, definitely worth a visit when the evenings get darker, the Christmas season starts to ramp up and you need somewhere cosy to rest for a while.

And finally after all that pounding of the high street we badly needed a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake. Where better than the tea shop in Liberty.
