Just under a year ago Retail Week summised that Otto might bring Crate and Barrel to the UK. At the end of last week in the same auspicious tome we see a story that Otto are “believed to be considering a bid for Danish chain Ilva” for the odd £billion and a bit. Now I’m not one to put two and two together but with some judicious retail design and some rebadging of an out of town site, could we be seeing a new player on the home & living scene come the autumn? Mind you Ilva was an M&S Lifestore only a short while ago so maybe we’ve seen it all before!
