Shopper-Centric Design eBook http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2012/01/09/shopper-centric-design-ebook/ http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2012/01/09/shopper-centric-design-ebook/#comments Mon, 09 Jan 2012 11:51:48 +0000 http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/?p=915

Here’s a nice little eBook, courtesy of Elateral.

Just the right thing to get those juices going for your New Year’s to do list. Of particular interest is the four principles and seven imperatives and some good links at the back of the book. Happy reading.

Here’s the download link. (You’ll need to give up your email address).

Symbology http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2011/03/03/symbology/ http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2011/03/03/symbology/#comments Thu, 03 Mar 2011 16:04:39 +0000 http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/?p=746 For those amongst you that are semiotically inclined, here’s The Noun Project. A great resource for pictograms with a nice old school slant. Some of them are very reminiscent of British Rail pictograms pre their redesign by Lloyd Northover in 1999. And they’re free, and downloadable, definitely worth bookmarking.

Mood board heaven http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2010/07/21/mood-board-heaven/ http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2010/07/21/mood-board-heaven/#comments Wed, 21 Jul 2010 11:32:29 +0000 http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/?p=581 No sooner than we talked about the need to create an online mood board app than along cam Pinterest. A doddle to use and very addictive and of course super useful.

Sign in with twitter, create pin boards, pin images from web pages (unfortunately not from Google Reader) upload images and follow other users.

Still got 4 invites left so add your name to the comments if you want one.

Brands on Twitter http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2010/06/30/brands-on-twitter/ http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2010/06/30/brands-on-twitter/#comments Wed, 30 Jun 2010 15:04:00 +0000 http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/?p=561 Doesn’t seem much real life interaction between customers and brands via Twitter over here (UK). Over there (US) of course it’s done better.

The Mid-Century Modernist http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2010/06/25/the-mid-century-modernist/ http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2010/06/25/the-mid-century-modernist/#comments Fri, 25 Jun 2010 17:00:17 +0000 http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/?p=559 We really like this redesign of The Mid-Century Modernist, especially how the gallery is done, pulling in and displaying ebay auctions. All done in WordPress.

Originally spotted (I think) from Erik Spiekermann’s twitter.

New New York Subway Map http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2010/06/01/new-new-york-subway-map/ http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2010/06/01/new-new-york-subway-map/#comments Tue, 01 Jun 2010 22:57:07 +0000 http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/?p=547 From the New York Times a look at a new version of the NY Subway map. Interesting to look at the older versions although I have to agree with  Erik Spiekermann, “Maps that use diagonal type are designed by amateurs”.

The full thing on the NY Times.

As always there’s an alternative, the Kick Map

Logorama by H5 http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2010/01/19/logorama-by-h5/ http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/2010/01/19/logorama-by-h5/#comments Tue, 19 Jan 2010 09:23:45 +0000 http://inspiredesignblog.co.uk/?p=538 Often there seems a backlash against the quantity, and the quality, of design and brands that encroach into our daily lives. Logorama is a short film by H5, a French designers and filmmakers that takes a looks at this brand overload.
