Can you tell navy blue from black?

According to the PSFK Future of Retail Report …

67% of customers who try on items buy them. Only 10% of customers make a purchase that they haven’t tried on. That’s why stores have begun to make changing rooms more attractive to customers.

Lighting is of course the key element in changing rooms, if you can tell navy blue from black you know the lighting is working. Then come the add ons. Mary Portas when launching her new shop for women is going to have fitting rooms with a choice of lighting modes.

Neither do changing rooms have to be static tucked away in a corner. Bloomingdales in Santa Monica have installed pods that retract into the ceiling.

Also of note in the same ‘retailtainment’ vein, the Topman personal shopping suite by Lee Broom.

Who knew C&A could look like this. Just shows what a bit of South American pizazz can do. Of particular note are the light fittings just showing how much can be achieved with simple ideas well executed.

Centre Commercial – Paris

A lovely looking store, Centre Commercial by Veja opened at the end of last year in Paris. The distressed look is to the fore but what makes it stand apart is the excellence of the cross merchandising, beautifully and elegantly done. Also of note is the lighting, little spots on the wall products and an interesting take on neon chandeliers.

TalkTalk new showroom

The New TalkTalk showroom in Soho is a stripped back large space, complete with Tuk Tuk van in the centre acting as a coffee station. The showroom gives the brand the ideal environment to host its own happenings, an important part of the new retail experience.

More Snog

I’ve writtten about Snog on here before and I must admit I keep coming back to it every time we look at a fascia on another job. So now here’s some more pics and even videos at Lighting which has an excellent write up about the lighting scheme.

Also worth having a look at is their kiosk which opened in Westfield on Monday. Not many images online yet but no doubt they’ll start appearing soon, and the van is great too.
